Chicken Fried Steak

Postby JamesB » Fri Jul 24, 2009 7:26 pm

Probably my most favorite meal... CFS, mashed taters (with real cow butter and cream) topped off with cream gravy and fresh corn on the cob... Oh yeah and some freshly brewed sweet tea!

That looks mighty tasty, although the pepper would send my stomach to the fire dept.! That is the one spice I can't handle much. :? Go figure..

CFS and mashed taters are hard to beat! Also, I have learned that iced tea is better in a mason jar.

What kind of beef do you use again for CFS?

In this case I used top round because it was cheap... you can use any lean meat for CFS. We also do the same method for chicken, pork chops, venison etc...

Why yes, yes I do.... :P You can use a meat mallet or do as I do and use a knife. Go over it with the sharp side of the blade, in multiple directions, a few times just hard enough to start cutting the meat fibers, but not enough to cut all the way through. I do both sides and when cooked you can cut it with a fork.

I love pan fried CFS. The smush tators & corn are my favorite sides for it. The only thing missing a hot roll or biscuit, drowning in butter & honey.
