I have to ask, since I don't know and am wondering......
Is there cash prizes in the competitions?
If so, how much are we talking??????
I may have to vamp up my Q real fast.

Re: Another stupid Question....but......
depends on a lot of factors, number of teams involved, % of payback to cookers (IE:90), any added money, ......yes there can be alot of money but lots of times there is enough to break even...

I would love to go to one locally here. I'm going to have to look into it and see what Missouri has to offer.

You will more then likely spend more money doing this then you will ever win back. Unless you hit big in EVERY c/o you do. But you will have ALOT of fun.

Oh it would def be for fun if I went. I wouldn't enter one for a looonnnggg time, if ever. But, I'm always up for a beer and good convo with good people.
I was just curious about the prizes since I read the posts here.

Re: Another stupid Question....but......
being that you're in the show me state, you would most likely be covered by KCBS for comps. i don't know of any other sanctioning body up that way.

Have to agree with the KCBS thing. Their website is http://www.kcbs.us/ . Click events and look at your state. A link (if available and most are) to the event will be there. Entry fees, rules etc and the purse are fully disclosed.
There is big money at stake in the long run, but odds are that you'll not break even over a year. Like going to Vegas. Shoulde Lady luck smile upon you then you're in the $$$, if not you're in the red.

Thanks for educating me as I never heard of the KCBS before. Now, it's bookmarked as a Fav Place. Kewl.

i always compete for fun but yes as Murriel and Harold in Houston would say "winning's more fun". If I win enough to break even after its all done I'm happy. What other hobby can you do that you can kick back with a bunch of cool people and enjoy cool ones and maybe win some cash too.

Yea I play at a pretty easy game with some coworkers. Thought about bringing some Q over. Gotta put my new Lang 84 beast to work.
