Re: tents/chairs/sleeping?
The best chair is a gravity chair from Cabela's,Gander Mtn...etc... ive got 2 and they are great to sleep in..... ..If I were you I'd put up an EZ up , couple gavitiy chairs, a good 24" fan...Ice chests..and go for it.... ...I dont think you will need a blanket or sleeping bag in bedford...
yes I get plenty of sleep at every cook off, in bed by 10;30 -11 PM and get up at 5am to light pit, have brisket on by 5"45....and away we go.....

We use to have Bloody Mary's @ 4 Am .Thats when we Stopped partying and got real Serious bout Cookin . The Pits were runnin from the time we got there till we left and sometimes before and after. We let the kids and women sleep if they got all their work done first. Like setting up the Canopies ,stacking the Hickory, Serving the Beers when called for , Keeping the area clean,
picking the Beans , going after Ice ,etc. Course a lot of those guys are gone now .
I got First Place in Every Cook Off I ever Entered.

Re: tents/chairs/sleeping?
I have to agree the gravity chairs are great... but as for having a place to sleep we usually bring a camper. Makes for a misreable time without any AC down here on the Gulf Coast when it's 90+ degrees and the humidity is up there too... and did I mention mosquitos?? Ehhh...

I don't think a tent is required. By 3:30 Saturday, you will be tired and the less stuff you have to tear down and pack the better. A sleeing bag/pillow will work. As far as the chair goes.....Gravity all the way. Get a good night's sleep so you are fresh for business on Saturday. Good luck out there!!!

We used a tent that fit over the bed of the pickup for 4 years. Now we sleep in gravity chairs inside the trailer.

Cabellas Gravity XL - The only way to roll. Last year at Bedford I slept in my truck - the weather that night was perfect. The next weekend at CCA I almost burned up trying to sleep in my truck But it dont matter you get a zero gravity chair you will sleep fine.
Dont buy the one Academy has, its very heavy and it is not comfortable at all.

Re: tents/chairs/sleeping?
We been competing for a whole year we had an airmatress that we threw in the back of the truck to sleep on it was ok. Then we bought a little pop up camper and that was better especially livin in Texas. The a/c makes a huge differance. Well we recently sold the camper and are currently sleepin on the recliner chairs from Academy. Next year we are gonna buy a bigger camper. The head cook should defanitley get some rest. Good luck!!!!

We have been sleeping in the truck but it sucks. Hopfully soon I will win the lottery and sleep wherever the heck I want at comps.

Re: tents/chairs/sleeping?
Used a tent for a long time but I'm currently shopping for a Pop Up Camper. Rest is critical, period.
If your interested in a tent that fits over the back of a truck I have on that has been used once and would let it go for a good price.
I loved it but being a beer drinker, having to get in and out of the back of the truck at night to find the port a john was not as easy as getting out of a small coleman tent.
Lots of folks sleeping in the Anti Gravity chairs so they must work.

Tex_Toby has one for sale in the Horse Tradin forum, sounds like it would be a good one for cookoffs

Re: tents/chairs/sleeping?
I have a 40ft camper. I have turned down a few comps because they didn't offer spaces big enough for my camper to fit. I am spoiled but I love my AC, bathroom, and shower. It has an outdoor kitchen so I can do all my cooking out of it.
