Generator for cook offs?
Ok need to buy a small one just for night lights and a small portable ac, not needed to power and rv or anything else.
Saw that tractor suplly has a small Champion on sale for like 300 bucks and Sams has the Blackmax honda powered GC190 for 399.00, any feed back on either is welcome. Let me also add I want it to be quiet too, never mind the neighbors, I want to get some sleep myself, lol.

We had a honda 1000 and man that thing was quiet and work great for lights and fans or what not. I have been around them Champions and they are louder but do not know about how good they run.

Sears had a Champion 3500 /4000 watt amp with wheels for $319 last month. Not sure if they still do, but it was the cheapest I could find. I'm breaking it in this weekend in Lockhart.

Let me know what your neighbors think on the noise level, have not bought one just yet.

Re: Generator for cook offs?
I ran it in the drive way for an hour when I unboxed it. It doesn't compare to a honda, but it seemed quieter then some of the bigger construction grade ones we've used in the past. I'll let you know how it does when I hear it next to the others.

It was $319 when I got it. $399 now.

Being polite should always be the way you handle that, some times it works and sometimes you
may need to ask just a bit more politely, just will usually get the issue handled.
I have woke up a team before and said if your generator is gonna keep us awake- yall need to join the party too, they had one big bad loud generator, powering a single little lowly crock pot of beans. They got the point and we all enjoyed us some quiet time.

Re: Generator for cook offs?
We have a loud generator. We usually ask the organizer to put us in a location where we can keep it away from other camps. We also made a big plywood noise deflector to help a little too.

I like the small Yamaha inverter generators. Very quiet & fuel efficient.
I guess that's why my mine wandered away while on a pit stop going to the deer lease.

Re: Generator for cook offs?
I like the Honda inverters ... but those are a pretty penny. I went down awhile back and bought a Gererac 2000 watt inveter @ Lowe's, cost about $650 after taxes, not quite as quiet as the Honda's or Yamaha's but its not as loud as a typical generator either. Runs my lights, speakers and bbq guru with no problems.
