Jarrod Wittneben Memorial

Postby TX1911 » Fri May 17, 2019 4:34 pm

Participating in a small local cook off this weekend honoring a fallen lineman from the area. First time out, so expectations are appropriately set.

Much smaller set up than I am used to, but I'm digging it! None of the usual team members could make it, so its a family affair. Have my dad and 6 year old son helping out.

Tonight is fajitas and margaritas, tomorrow beans, brisket, ribs and chicken. You can bet Sucklebusters will be featured prominently in all categories. Well, except margaritas.....(Dan, product idea!).

Have a great weekend y'all!

Coming up on bean turn in. Going simple with SB pinto bean kit and a ham hock.

Probably wont be able to post any more until late tonight. Turn ins start at 11 with another one every hour until 2.

We are home safe and sound. Unloaded, but not quite unpacked. It was a great weekend, and I think the boy is completely wiped. We only got one walk, for beans, but only the top 6 at the event get a call. We were fortunate enough to get a 16th in fajitas, 10th in margaritas, 5th in beans, 8th in ribs (I botched the presentation because I ran short on time), a 9th in chicken and an 18th brisket. Not a bad showing for my first run without the rest of the team. Most importantly, I think the boy and my father are hooked and want to do it again. Thanks for keeping up with us!
