Sounds like you live in Austin
I don’t think I would handle the situation in a neighborly way. So I better not give you my advice.
Good luck

Ordinance most likely refers to things out in your yard in the open air.

If it were me, I'd grab a 10" cast iron pan and put it on ur stove burner in ur kitchen and turn it on HIGH.
Get it Lava HOT, rub some Grapeseed Oil on both sides of a good ole juicy Steak.Preheat ur oven on 300.
When its at 300, Open ALL your windows and put a fan aiming towards ur neighbors house.
Carefully lay that steak on the Lava HOT cast iron for exactly 45 seconds.
Flip it and back on the cast and then in the oven for maybe 8 or so minutes.

Not only will you have one of the tastiest steaks you've ever had, but I guarantee you that you will kill every mosquito on the block !!!

Disclaimer::: Your kitchen will not only smell like an authentic Steakhouse, it will be a catalyst for major amounts of smoke !

Lived in Austin for 40 years and there's no law that prevents cooking/smoking outdoors as long as the fire is contained in a metal device/box.
Open fires and trash burning are prohibited.
City parks have charcoal grills mounted at the picnic stations.

the dude went a little psycho on me and called the city, the police, the fire department, and Lord knows who else.

I built a fan and ventilation system so it routes the smoke to the other side of the back yard. no more complaints, but darn, what a b****!

Start randomly dropping off bbq to the local police and fire station just to thank them for all their hard work…they should see your side of things going forward

So, what did the cops say to you when they came to your house?

the fire Dept came over but I wasn't home, and there wasn't even bbq being cooked. my friend who was feeding my pets while I was out of town saw them as he was leaving. lady from city told me dude was calling everyone complaining, but I wasn't around if they did come over

why not call a realtor and use the neighbors name and phone number, have the realtor come by cause they want to sell... then find a for sale sign of said realtor and place in neighbors yard... maybe said neighbor might get the hint...

I've watched fear thy neighbor on CI. Be very careful. I only have 1 near me and he's an Indian. A real nice guy.

Right!

Hey Joe, I grew up in Oslo Norway as a child 3,4,5 and 6th grade! My dad was stationed there for NATO and he worked out of Oslo Airport, Fornebu! Best country I've ever been to, I've been to many! "Edited for better clarity for Grailisback"
