Smoker build question

Postby Welder10 » Mon Jan 02, 2017 8:29 am

Hello everyone, I'm new to the board, but, I find this sight very helpful. I'm going to attempt my first offset smoker build with reverse flow. My cc will be 24"x 48". It's 3/8" wall. I've been figuring on the dimensions. If I'm on the right track, I'm thinking my fb should be 19" x19" x19". I need help on my fb to cc opening. And also, how far from the end should I stop the rf plate? I was thinking 3 1/2"? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look down a couple of threads and it has a link to determine size of pit and firebox, 4 inches sounds right for the one I built.

Here is your numbers.
A 20" firebox would be more suited.
The opening opposite the firebox should be at least as large as your firebox to cooking chamber opening.

if I leave a 1.5" darn height, should my height of the cutout be 4.5" up above the darn?
