Half moon cutout?

Postby Welder10 » Tue Jan 17, 2017 9:59 pm

My smoker is 24"x 48". My ID is 23 1/4". My question is, if I leave 1 1/2" at the bottom of my cooking chamber, how many inches up should I cut the half moon cutout. My firebox will be 20" x 20" x 20". Thanks in advance.

You need a 13" x 6.5" half moon. You would start at top of your 1.5" with the bottom of your half moon. You can manipulate the opening anyway you like as long as you end up with the required 64 Sq. in.
These may help.

Thank you for your help, do you think I'm on the right track with this build?

If I where to build a warming box 24" x 24" x 48" on the opposite side of the fire box, what size inlet and vent would I need to put on it? And, would it affect the heat in the cooking chamber?
