Weed burner. Are they all the same quality?

Postby Copasspupil » Mon Feb 19, 2018 7:19 pm

I q’d long enough now that I think I want to do a few mods to my smoker.
1. Enlarge the lower section of the fire box door for better flow. It’s way too small.
2. A few more handles so I don’t burn my hands anymore if that possible
3. Looking for a weed burner to light the lumpcoal easier than stuffing the lower section under the grate with paper to get the fire burning.

I’ve got the top two figured out but no idea on weedburners. Educate me on them. What do I want for this application?

I just picked one up at Harbor Freight. Been using it for about 3 years. No complaints.

From my experience, you can't go wrong with a Bernzomatic 20,000 btu ( cane style ) with push button ignition.
Search Amazon or wherever you like to shop. Prob cost ya 40$ but we'll worth it imho.

U can get cheaper units, but Bernzomatic has always been good brand.

Is it me but a little propane tank is like skinny jeans. I just don't get it. I want a stand up weedburner with a 5 gallon tank to start my coals. Am I the only one?

This is the style I use to light the lump on my steak/ fajita cooker on my pit. Mine just has the round valve and not the squeeze handle.

I built my own. It does not have a regulator and sounds like a jet engine during take off lol.

Harbor Freight here also...

I tried one of the high dollar ones and it was 1) too darn big and 2) defective.... No matter which brand you buy be sure to do a leak test before using.

This is the one you want right here. Has the adjustable needle valve. No squeeze handle. It will do anything you need to do.
