Postby Mattm » Thu Mar 08, 2018 10:59 am

What types of paint is everybody using on there trailer pits and accessories, automotive, spray paint, equipment paint? Trying to get an idea for mine. I know the automotive paint is pricy.

On my backyard pit I used Sherwin Williams High heat paint; it has lasted very well

For the frame, fenders and anything that doesn't get hot check out Tractor Supply.
They have a good selection of colors in gallons for eguipment and such and very reasonably priced.
We just painted a frame machine with the stuff. Applied it with a brush and roller, came out pretty darn nice.

I didn't know Sherwin Williams made high heat paint, I'll have to check that out.

Yeah that was I was thinking about doing was going to tractor supply, I just want to do something better then spray paint and it come out nice. The automotive paint I priced for 1 gallon black, with reducer and hardner was 200 dollars, but I also want it to last also. I appreciate y'alls in put, I'll check out both of those .

My trailers and cookers are blasted then primed with inorganic zinc primer. The trailers get industrial black enamel with a hardener and the cookers get Rustoleum BBQ black.
Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

That Industrial black, is it an automotive Paint? Where would you get paint like That? What's the heat rating on that rustolem bbq paint? I have always used engine paint
But if that better I probably need to go with that?
