Double barrel 55 gal drum smoker

Postby Englishdave » Wed Feb 13, 2019 4:20 pm

Hey guys, I'm in the process of building my 2nd smoker for events and comps and I was wondering if anyone has tried to put two 55 gallon oil drums together to create a double length smoker as an offset?

I've searched the web and I can only see ones where there is a third drum underneath for heat rather than set up as an offset!

Any help would be lovely!

Cheers!

I'm sure somebody's done it (as sure as a redneck in the southern US owns a welder or has a brother in law that does).

And for the truly creative, their's the double-door CADILLAC of cookers!!!!:

I've just be checked it and one side is used for grilling so it's not a full smoker. Surely as long as the airflow is right then the whole thing could be used as a smoker right? It am I a mad man?

You are a mad man, LOL. But why let that stop you? LOL

If airflow is good, yes. Same principle as in a center firebox cooker. Check out Pitts n Spitts in Houston Texas. They used to make one, maybe still do.
