What Size Angle and Channel For Sliding Grills?

Postby hogaboomer » Tue Jul 02, 2019 11:16 pm

What sizes do you guys use for those grills that slide in and out? I'm trying to get all my stuff lined up to make my first smoker, I'm currently making a cart to move pipe around the shop, should be picking up a piece of 24 inch standard wall from a work buddy tomorrow...
I'll likely be asking a lot of dumb questions, so get ready.

I used 1x1x1/8. 1 peice per side for the grate to slide on, and another peice overlapping with 1/4" clearance to keep it from tilting when retracted.

Some pics are in the "new member with questions", thread, a few threads down.

1st pic on the 2nd page shows it best.

Thanks, Ken. Don't need channel at all, that way. That is one heck of a smoker you built!

Thanks. It turned out real nice, i got the lights wired up this morning and weighed it for motor vehicles registration. Came in at 2980 lbs. About 3 lbs lighter than my cad software said it would weigh.

Post pics of your smoker when your done. Im looking forward to seeing it.
