My First smoker build. 30” offset.

From the looks of it it’s going to be very heavy. I had my old stick burner with firebox, main chamber, and 52” vertical refurbished in 2023 and had to pick it up with a tractor that had a front end loader

Yes very heavy. A quick guess would be 1700-1800 lbs.

Got some actual work done today. Welded the inside of the of the main cook chamber. Gravity mixed with molted metal inside a pipe the mini pallet was a life saver.

Got everything beveled, gapped, and fitted.

It’s now sitting on the trailer. I still need to figure out the placement on the trailer as well as the height.

I need to make a few modifications to the free trailer before I weld the pit to the trailer.

Id be using rectangle tube or channel iron every 2' under the cooker.\I am guessing your tongue weight is okay? If not trim off the back and move the cooker forward.
That tall a cooker is gonna be hard to work from the ground unless you are pretty tall. The cooker that far back on the trailer will also cause high centering on the firebox going over steep tracks and such.

Due to the weight of the smoker I had planned on making it a tandem axle trailer. I was also going to add another runner that goes the length of the trailer. I also have a Santa Maria grill, burners, and a fryer that I would like to add to the curb side of the trailer. Also a storage box in front of the smoker. However, that will all have to wait until I get the smoker completely done.

I had planned on using 2X4 rectangle tubing for the support for the smoker as well as additional runners the length of the trailer. As it sits on the trailer right now I can still pick up ( probably 75-80lbs) the tongue of the trailer and manhandle it around. Once I add the other items to the trailer I think the tongue weight will be in the ballpark of what it needs to be.
To help with the high centering I had planned to have the axles toward the end of the trailer as well as perhaps some square tubing under the firebox so that if it does happen to drag over really steep stuff it will rub on the square tubing instead of the firebox.

Got a box of hinge parts from my plasma guy this week.

Got the doors layed out and cut. Both of them sprung ever so slightly. I’ll get pics of it tomorrow.
