Texas Pit Masters (Crafters)

Postby hueyfisher » Sun Jan 09, 2011 11:37 pm

I have a Pit Crafters Grill, believe it is the one on the link below, except mine does not have the adjustable rack...

http://www.texaspitcrafters.com/detail.aspx?ID=14

Bought it used for a great price, cleaned it up and really love it!
I was thinking about adding the adjustable rack and of course I want to add a smoke box!!
As is I can only get one large brisket on there at a time and I have to rotate it every so often..

My questions are:
Should I fork over several hundred dollars more to get Texas Pit Masters to do this?
Should I find a local welder here in the Round Rock/Cedar Park area to do the work?
Or should I just use it a while, sell it when ready to upgrade to a grill that has the smokebox and maybe even a verticle smoker on the end??

Really just curious if these are exceptional grills or just really expensive?

Thanks for your time.

I would think any local weldor could add a fire box. Maybe just like you said, use it for a while then get what you really want. CF :D
OK, get over it, you lost. God bless America

Am not famaliar with Texas Pit Masters smokers so in regards to quality verses price I can't comment.
In regards to having Texas Pit Masters or a local welder do the upgrades; metal is expensive, metal fabrication wether local or pit builder is expensive. You might get some quotes from both then decide if you want to incur the expense are sell your current pit and re invest in what you want. I have built a number of pits; what looks like a simple upgrade/build can be very time consuming. JMHO
