My new Gator Pit

Postby Capt Jeff » Wed May 04, 2011 9:45 pm

Finally! After seems like months of waiting (in reality more like 7 weeks), I was able to bring home my new pit. :D

It is a Gator Back Yard Classic - 20x32 w/ round firebox, and two shelves inside. Would have included some pictures, but in the process of moving them from my camera to the computer they got lost

Spent the afternoon seasoning and tuning, now it is ready to go. Will probably be smoking some chickens and turkey breasts on Friday. Will post some pictures then.

Had a technical glitch in the software when moving the original pics from camera to computer.

Here's a couple I took this afternoon:

First cook tomorrow. Got some turkey breasts at HEB to test her out. More pics to follow.

Seriously eyeballing a "Party Gator" order in the near future. Looks like a fine product.

Cooked on the new pit yesterday. Worked great. Took much less babysitting than my old New Braunfels Hondo smoker. Very tight around all the doors and the temp was easy to regulate with a fairly small fire.

The pit is a dream to run. :P

Interesting thing: I just realized that the pits on their web site pictures have the fire box on the right side and yours has it on the left. Any particular reason you chose having it on the left?
