Help Identify this Vertical/Offset Smoker. Chuckwagon Cooker??

Postby Quid Pro Q » Tue May 17, 2016 1:20 pm

Hey yall. I've been trolling around for while now and wanted to ask about this smoker I acquired. From my research, it may be a Chuckwagon Cooker out of New Braunfels, but I havent seen another one like it. Anyone have any ideas?

I can confirm chuckwagon based on one in a classified ad I am looking at. The numbers inside your lid look the same as well. What did you pay for it if I can ask?

It's been in the family for about 20 years. Do you mind sending me the link to the ne you're looking at?

It is definitely a Chuckwagon smoker, but it appears that the firebox has been replaced. I have a Chuckwagon that I purchased new in 1996 and will post pics if I can figure out how.

Thanks for the reply and the photos. Do you recall if there was a model with a larger WC like mine? Here's a couple photos of the finished project.

I never saw one with a larger WC. From my experience though, the warming chamber doesn't get warm enough to do much during a cook, if the horizontal chamber is kept below 300*.

Hi I'm new too and I'm picking this up on Saturday. It is a Chuckwagon smoker (has the same little plate on the back) and I wanted your opinion of it. It looks ALMOST exactly like the one you posted but there are a couple of differences. Different year you think?

Thanks!

Looks to be the same. I love mine, especially after turning it into a reverse flow.

I said a couple of differences but really I guess the only one is the placement of the thermometer. I like yours too. Looks real nice!
