Luling 16x32 (Texas Original Pits) or 16" Classic (Horizon)

Postby FWL2579 » Thu Oct 13, 2016 8:54 am

New to the forum. Looking for advice on which smoker to buy. The two that are in my price are the 16x32 from Texas original pits and the 16" classic from Horizon.

I won't be smoking for a lot of people so I don't need a large smoker. Just the family or a small get together sometimes.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Is no news good news in this case? I don't see a whole lot of people with anything good or bad to say about Texas Original Pits.

I owned a Tejas 1628 pit - well made for sure and may or may not be comparable to what you're looking at - BUT - it didn't take long for me to realize it was just too small. I would encourage you to consider upping the game to a minimum of 20" in diameter and 1/4" walls on cook chamber and firebox. That way you won't be looking for a new pit next year.

Good luck - welcome to the site - and let us know what you end up doing.
