Postby Gencom » Tue Jul 18, 2017 3:02 pm

Hey guys,

Any comments on a design like this, or anyone know the work?

I pulled the trigger on one similiar to this without all the fancy stuff upfront and with a insulated firebox...... now im thinking i got too much pit

like i said mine isn't that fancy, my concern was more with the chamber not being round.. I did spring for the insulated firebox in hope of being more efficent.

This would be my first reverse flow. I'm kind of bummed theres no grill, but maybe i can work that out some way.

That should make for a great pit! If you want a grill, Weber has people staying up nights making them, and for cheap. :)

Well like i said the non cylinder design worries me i suppose as thats what i'm used to. This guy does great work from what i've seen, id suggest anyone in the dallas / houston area check him out. it was a tough decision to choose between reverse flow and standard offset but, I tend to choose non standard stuff. never owned a reverse flow before and surely not a trailer mount. Tandum was a extra 1200, do you think it will be ok on a single axel?

As far as a grill, you are right im sure i can weld a All seasons feeder grill on it ( since they also utilize the octagon box ) might be just about perfect. being as the firebox is insulated im curious what temps will get too in vertical box..

AJ does great work, no issues with the design, mine is a cooking machine. Insulated firebox is money well spent, if you want a grill have him build a Santa Maria style on the other side ( I opted for a traditional grill and wish I’d gone with SM style.) I’d also recommend a tandem axel if you think you’ll ever want to add on a roof, sink, grill, wood box or the like.
