Drove up to Willis last Friday and picked up my LSG 20x30. All the folks at their shop were wonderful to meet. They gave me an orientation on seasoning, using and cleaning, then wrapped it up, loaded and secured for the drive over to our lakehouse. Spent Saturday tinkering around and seasoning it. All the bolts that penetrate the main chamber for smoke stack and front shelf are welded on inside so I removed each one and coated with Never-Seize so as not to have a broken off bolt down the road if I have to remove for some reason.

Temp management was pretty easy. I started it at 100 deg for about 2 hrs, then bumped it up to 175 for 2 hrs then to 235 (their recommended max temp for setting the paint). All went well. Plan to do another session to measure temps around all areas of cooking chamber then will do a cook right before TG if all goes well and I can get away from the office for that long.

I really like the looks of that pit. Curious to see the temp differences on the top grate vs bottom.

Nice looking cooker, looks solid. If i was a bettin man i suspect probably between 15 to 25 from bottom grate to top.

Bottom cooking grate is 20.5 x 23.5 with 5” clearance from top of grate to bottom of upper grate.

Upper cooking grate is 15.5 x 23.5 with 6” clearance to top of pit

In addition to all the standard features, I got the charcoal grate and ash pan upgrade for direct cooking in cooking chamber, upgraded to 1/2” firebox grate and two temp probe ports. All in with tax was $1,820

Tejun, we were talking about the temp difference from the bottom grate to the top. There will be one. Its just a matter of how much. But that is a very nice little cooker for sure. I am a Klose guy, but that unit looks solid.

I gotcha ! Yes, in the video Chris has on his website, running with the fire assist for demonstration purposes, the top grate was running at 250 and bottom at 225. Temps were pretty consistent horizontally.

Grab a pop tube of cheap biscuits and put them on the shelves during your next seasoning run. How evenly they cook will give you a good idea on temp variations
