Re: Texas Eggfest
"Those Two Guys" BBQ Team will be cooking. Our first time cooking on an egg at a contest. I'm really looking forward to it and I just need to decide what we are going to cook. But will figure it out.
Getting started at the local BBQ Outfitters spring extravaganza tomorrow. Demos from different pit makers and good food "hopefully"

Too bad they don't call it a ceramic fest -- I have a Primo Oval.

Eggfests are sponsored by the Big Green Egg. Gently used Eggs are offered for sale after said event.
I also have a Primo. But taking a Primo to an Eggfest is akin to taking a Ford to a Toyota car show. Too bad Primo hasn't picked up on this idea.
We need a flowerpot smiley....
If I were cooking at an Eggfest, I would go for the unusual. Bison ribs, duck, anything Korean, or authentic German sausage. Just my $0.02.

Re: Texas Eggfest
I have cooked at Eggfests in Atlanta, Salado, Austin, Athens, and Oklahoma City. My next eggfest will be my 10th.
Couple comments:
- They are not a competition (One Eggfest gives away a couple eggs based on tasters voting - Texas Eggfest)
- You don't bring your BGE
- You cook on a BGE that has been or will be sold at a discount (buyer picks up at end of eggfest)
- You don't have to own an egg to attend
- Tasters generally pay a small fee which goes to the charity (There is no fee at the Salado Fest)
- Eggs are lit at 9:00 and shut down at 3:00
- Small samples of your cooks are handed out during the fest
- They are a blast
- There is a get together the night before for the cooks sponsored by the dealer putting on the eggfest
- Sometimes there is an after party where folks pull out their own eggs and continue cooking and visiting
- Bunch of folks with a common interest that get together to cook, eat, and have a few adult refreshments

...Plus Salado is a cool little town with a lot of history dating back to the Revolution
