Anyone have one or would recommend one. Wanting to add a cooker to my arsenal that is easy to use. Debating between this or an Akorn. I wish you could test drive these suckers before making a purchase.

I have a traeger texas style offset, I used it a lot until I got my fast eddy, I equipped it with the digital thermostat makes it accurate like the oven in your house, as long as the weather is stable and the wind does not blow too much, another trick some use, it to line the cook chamber with fire brick or a medium layer of sand if you can stand the weight the extra mass when at temperature is resistive to changes in temperature, pretty good on the set and forget mode.
no knowledge of the akorn :(

I cant speak for the smaller units, but I LOVE the Traeger XL -> Set it and forget it.

You may also keep an eye out on Craigs list for a used one. I got mine for 1/2 price and it had only been used once.

I have had Traegers (075 Texas model) for 15 years and would recommend them if the price is right.
At the full retail price the bigger Traegers have some good competition but $300 for the little guy is great.
BTW I also have a Fast Eddy.

A good friend of mine has one and he has nothing but good things to say about it.
