Smokeless at 325 degrees

Postby Dp64 » Fri Sep 09, 2016 1:13 pm

I smoked my first full packer brisket to perfection with the pellet smoker. Now, smoking a full turkey at 325 degrees. It maintains the temp buy no smoke. Is this normal at this temp?

I'm certainly not one to advise on the Pellet Cooker but, as a complete Pellet Nerd, mine only smokes at the low temp settings "Smoke" "200" "225" - - - I bought an AMAZ'N smoker unit that is supposed to give more smoke taste but I'm not thrilled with it either. Good LUck and let us know what you find out OK? OH, and Welcome to the Forum :texas:

I don't own a pellet but I'd say yes it's pretty normal. In fact, you're likely getting the best kind of smoke from a very clean burning fire. You can always adjust next time - start a little lower and finish off higher but poultry can get pretty smokey tasting if you're not being careful. Good luck and let us know how it came out.

Pellet fired pits are extremely efficient, an inefficient fire produces lots of smoke, the hotter the temp on a pellet cooker the less visible the smoke, if you want some smoke consider some of the smoking tubes, or some pellets in a foil pack on the edge of your fire pot, and poke a hole in the foil with a tooth pick... :D
