I did the same thing I went back and forth with the GMG and Yoder 640. Price was the ultimate factor really. That was until I saw the Yoder in person and knew that it would last a life time if care for a little bit. Buy right buy once is my motto. I love my Yoder couldn't be happier. Hope you are enjoying your Camp Chef sure it is a great little smoker.

I bought the same CampChef (perhaps not quite as long?) and the controller died sometime during shutdown after the first cook, as in it would not restart or run the second time I tried to cook on it a few weeks later..
CampChef sent me a new control panel right away and after about 20 minutes to install, all is well.
I advise covering the drip/deflector pan with foil to ease clean-up..and you can increse smoke flavor with an add-on pellet burn tray that sits on the cook grate. that adds smoke during the times the pellets are not dropping.

10-4 on the foil on the drip tray - - - I have the extra smoke pellet tray from MAGNUM (?) and to me it's more trouble than it's worth so I've just started leaving my Pit Boss on the Smoke Setting for some extra time at the beginning and that works well for me. :dont:

At some point I'm going to place a mini-split in the pellet burn chamber and see what happens..of course leaving room for the pellets to drop..

Just ordered one myself. How is it cooking and what are some of the mods you made?
Look forward to this new smoker!

I've got the DLX. Only mod I made is the gasket around the door. I've been more than pleased with it.

I put the gasket around the lid and other then that just cook on it. I use the AmazN Smoke tube to get more smoke. I ordered a beef jerky set of racks for a bigger 2nd shelf. Since then I found another place to buy a 2nd shelf cheaper. https://smokedaddyinc.com/product/grill-grates/. I also ordered a front shelf https://smokedaddyinc.com/product/folda ... l-shelves/

Reading this thread has me really excited to receive my new PG500 on the 22nd.... I-really loved the Yoder 624, especially with the competition cart... Looks awesome... However I like that the PG500 is stainless and has four cook zones... My kids are gone so the smaller cook areas on the PG500 shouldn’t be a problem... It was really a hard choice picking between the two... I’ll let y’all know what I think after a few cooksouts...

Outstanding choice. Those 2 were on top of my list but I decided to go cheap.
