Narrowed it down to CampChef and Pitboss...

Postby Chasdev » Tue Jun 13, 2017 10:35 am

The treasurer(wife) has allowed funding for a pellet burner and I've been reading past posts and surfing the interweb review pages and have decided on the Pitboss or CampChef
brands but need help refining the final choice between different models of each brand for my final choice.
There's the CampChef Woodwind https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZY ... K8MYASBFNR
The CampChef PG24 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DV ... PDKIKX0DER
The CampChef PG24s https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GI ... K8MYASBFNR
The CampChef SE https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QE ... K8MYASBFNR
And the Pitboss 71700fb https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GF ... R9Q3ML5YGI

I just saw Cabelas has a new pellet pooper that comes with a large window in the lid for viewing the meat as it cooks..
Anybody know who makes it for them?

I've got the Camp Chef PG24 and I can't say enough good things about it to be honest.

No experience with the others though.

A tip though, whichever you choose, check out Dicks or Fieldandstreamshop.com. Sign up for their email list and they'll send you a coupon. Save some money. If memory serves, my PG24 from F&S was less than $400 out the door.

I have a Pit Boss 340 (small version for small family) and I LOVE IT

How long have you been pumping pellets through that PB, had any issues with it, or heard of any?
I just picked up a PitBoss Kamado and the build quality seems to be first rate FWIW..

Over a year and the only problem was my fault but the Manufacturer helped me solve that and it's been running just great. One thing I stress is to follow the Instructions for Starting Up and Shuting Down from the Manual to the letter and ?I think? that proper cleaning after or before each use is a very good idea. Better safe and sorry with meat thawed, rubbed, blah blah blah and expecting to be Pelletized. :laughing7:

Man I think I have to order the CampChef PG24 DLX, the ash drawer and top shelf electronic control, including a shut down mode are tipping me that way...
Delivered to my driveway with a cover for $700 including tax.

Sign up for the rewards and you can save an additional 10% on your first order, I think. Plus free shipping.

Even at 700, it's worth it if you ask me.

Mines running right now with a large (5.5 lb) pork loin on. Chugging away in a decent breeze.

Post some pics of your cooks when you get it!

Ha! Just looked at Amazon and they lowered the price of the smoker I ordered by $100!
Called them up and they let me cancel the order even though it was set to be delivered Friday, so I re-ordered it at $500 with free shipping!
