Firestick quit

Postby bobcat1 » Sat Oct 14, 2017 7:14 am

Well the flame went out early this morning. Seems the fire starter isn't working. :x Auger was working so I pulled everything out, dumped the ash cup, put in a handful of pellets. and lit them with my handy dandy torch. Everything back on track now. Probably going to dry out the brisket... we'll see. :dont: I guess Monday I will call Camp Chef again and see if I am entitled to a new firestick. :angryfire: Bet that's going to be a wench to change out.

If they aren't good to you with a replacement try to find one made in America.

Found this one from SmokeDaddys. Ordered it. Last time I tried to talk to Camp Chef I wasn't pleased.

I thought about not buying one after the torch Idea for starting the burn pot worked so good. If this one ever fails I may never buy another one.

You have to light the pot with everything turned off. Then bypass startup and it will work. First try the fan was blowing it out before I could get it lit..... I know Duh! :banghead:

Looks like you found a good igniter.
The one in my original (USA made) Traeger is now 19 years old and still working........ Admittedly it don't get used as much anymore since I have other choices.

Got the new one installed. It was a little bit bigger around than the old one so I drilled the pipe it goes in out a little and it fit perfect. Funny thing the original one came out like this. Spliced wires. Very happy to have the made in USA one in.
