I have decided I need a good charcoal grill. Been looking at several models and reading reviews. Seems a lot of people like the Weber line. Was wondering what the thoughts are around here?

webers are great, pretty cheap, lightweight and easy to move. I personally use a lyfe tyme camper grill that is built like a tank and kinda heavy. I would recommend either one as they both get the job done.

One of the best things about Weber is that you can get parts real easy.

Don't have one but hear these guys talk about the Smokey Mountain all the time.

Weber 22" OTS BAR-B-Kettle!!! The only other one to consider is the 26". They are worth every pennny I bought the present one in 1985 all I do is feed it wood, charcoal & meat.

Yep on the Weber. Got 5 of em.
18" WSM, 22" WSM, Smoky Joe, 18" OTG and finally a 22" OTG.
As mentioned about parts, great customer service and warranty.

Thanks for all the responses. Seems Weber has an almost cult like following. Think I will seriously consider the Performer. I like the propane charcoal starter and the roll around cart. Told the wife I might need 5 of them and I immediately got "the look".. So I guess I will start off with only 1..

You already have a nice smoker, so I would definitely say Weber. It would be nice to have a dedicated smoker and a dedicated grill. I use my Gator pit for both, but I would be better off if I had a dedicated grill.

That's exactly my thoughts too. While the main attraction is on the long low and slow, a good grill can be servin up the appetizers or a burger for lunch. Plus I have empty space in my outdoor man kitchen I need to fill up. Lol

Dont think there is a better value out the any where for your dollar than a weber, ie bang for the buck$

You just need a couple of eggs... .

I'd love a Weber Ranch Kettle, but just can't justify the price. Maybe someday I'll see one on the curb with a "free" sign taped to it. A man can dream, can't he?

We realized there were not many high-end dedicated grills on the market so we created one. Same size and thickness as our smoker line just without a firebox. http://bighatbbq.squarespace.com/grills/

Can't go wrong with a Weber one touch

Best for the price: Jumbo Old Smokey Charcoal grill--pros readily found at any Academy Sports and Outdoors. Food grate a good distance from coals/wood. Easy to do indirect if needed. Made in Texas Cons: Not built to survive abuse from weather, collisions, etc.


Best for super high heat: Big Steel Keg


I also like the PK grill smoker, but I think it's overpriced


You need something big, that will last generations, and have plenty of cash to spend

Thanks for all the feedback. Ended up with the Weber Performer with the propane charcoal starter. So far I love this thing! The propane starter is nice! I have used this thing a ton already. Even grilled a pizza.
