Stole this mod from someone else and applied it to the Old Smokey. $10 in parts I used the original grate for the top grate and the bottom is a Weber 22 flip grate. The original grate will go up into the lid close to 6 inches with plenty of room to spare above it due to the Old Smokey design. I have 5" of clearance between grates and the flip grates remain fully functional. This should allow for 5 slabs of baby backs laying flat. I used 5/16 X 6 carriage bolts 5/16 fender washers, lock washers and plain nuts. I had some scrap 1/2 stainless tubing laying around that I cut into 5" lengths.
