Need a new charcoal grill.

Postby Splatt44 » Fri Dec 01, 2017 8:40 am

I am new to this forum but have a big question. I am looking for a top quality charcoal grill. I would like something rectangular. I have a nice smoker Meadow Creek BX50 so this is about grilling. I would like to be able to adjust the high of the coals as well. I did see the M Grills B2 and thought it was cool but I’m new to charcoal grills. Love some recommendations. I’m sorry but I have to admit I’ve been on propane for 47 years. (Feels good to get that off my chest). Thanks for listening. Thanks Hey

The number one thing to consider on charcoal grills is how well they are built. In my opinion the Weber Kettle is by far superior to any grill on the market for longevity and size options. My second choice would be the PK grill it is a bit smaller but very durable.

If you're wanting rectangular, PK Grills is going to be the way to go. Primo makes some oval grills that are really nice.

We're regular prope users and have a 22" Weber kettle. Welcome home.

Any particular reason you need a rectangular shape?

I’m going to have to go ahead and agree. I love my Kettle even though it’s not rectangular.

The PK’s are nice, but man, that price tag…

:laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7: that’s funny

Confession is good for the soul.

Seems it would be easier to adjust the height of the grate rather than the height of the coals.

Assassin pits out of Georgia make a really heavy duty grill. Insulated door to boot. You can even use it to smoke if you want. You could probably slide the charcoal tray in the upper rails, where typically the water pan or the v-pan they sell would go.

I bought a Charcoal grill from Lone Star Grilz in Conroe. It is a 48' wide model they also make one 30" wide. It has stainless hood, stainless grates and ash pan, the charcoal grate is adjustable up and down and it does a great job.
It will set you back some serious money though.

Are you thinking of something like a gaucho grill? Kalamazoo makes some very expensive models. For the money, a $250 Weber Kettle Performer will do amazing things. Simply master direct, indirect cooking using the charcoal baskets. There is no limit to what you can do! My Performer is my go to grill, also my cheapest grill
Hope this helps!

There's a smoker and grill builder in San Antonio that builds some real nice stuff. Not sure of the name, but it's either R & B or B & R Smokers . Their prices are pretty reasonable, and they seem like pretty good folks.

I have a PK grill that I'm told by PK is 50 yrs old. Found it at an estate sale for $8. Replaced the inside grills , added grill grates, and expect it to last the rest of my life. My step son has won 2 World Championships in steak competitions cooking on them.
