Going to get started on my first UDS smoker this weekend .
What is the ideal diameter and height of the charcoal basket will build ash pan according to diameter and also the best height for ash pan sides and leg height on basket . I realize I can look @ differnt sites but you guys know what works best with trial and error.

I used an Weber charcoal grate as the base standing 4" above a 4.00 Walmart pizza pan for an ash catcher, sides are from a 24X24 piece of expanded that was cut in 1/2 and hog ringed to the grate. 18" DIA. 12" deep 16" tall
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.
