it looks like some 1/8″ thick 1 1/2″ aluminum flat bar, from here

2"steel strapping( flat bar) aluminum will work

Have it installed and it's ugly. Can't decide if I want to waste my RTV on trying to get a good seal or to plug the holes and go back to flat lid. Testing Saturday.

The "U" is for ugly. LOL. I ground the lip on my barrel to let the lid fit directly on. It works great.

I used a grinder with one of the wheels that's sort of like layers emory cloth.
