HEB 55 gallon drum pit Brisket?

Hello everyone I am new to the forum just introduced myself in the new member section. Is it possible to cook a decent brisket in one of the horizontal 55 gallon drum pits. I installed a temp gauge on it I'm just a little concerned on maintaining heat. If any one has any advice I would greatly appreciate it, basic recipes, wood choice etc.

Scott, welcome to the forum. I have not used the pit your talking about, but I bet someone here will have an answer for you. CF

Build your fire opposite the stack side of the pit, put the brisket on the stack side with the point end to the fire.

Man by the name of Harley that sales some popular rubs has been winning brisket contest on the same barrel cooker for years!! His rubs are pretty dang good too!

Cooked many on my FIL barrel pit, might need to put a foil pan under the brisket because ifthe grease drippings hit you might have a lil grease fire, other than that they put out great Que.
