Removing 2" bung plug

Postby udrandman » Fri Jan 15, 2016 12:17 pm

I've looked for any info on this and haven't had much luck. I'm just beginning my first UDS build. What's the best way to remove a bung plug from the lid of my drum? I have a new drum with a "TITE SEAL II" plug. I've tried trying to pry it out (may not be using enough force) but I feel like I'm going to break anything I'm trying to pry with.
Thanks in advance for your help.

They unscrew. You can use a pair of channel lock pliers as a spanner wrench that is what I do. Just open the pliers to where the tip of the jaws reach the tabs on the bung plug push down and twist.
If it has the tamper proof metal caps crimped on take a chisel and a hammer to it in the middle to create an opening you can grab with pliers.
I hope this helps. :D
