Pit barrel smokers

Postby HCBGE06 » Fri May 26, 2017 8:51 am

I have been thinking of getting my SIL and BIL a pit barrel smoker for house warming present We both like the smoker from the Pit Barrel Cooker Co. Meathead at Amazing Ribs has given it the best value award. does anyone have any experience with this company and the product?
Thanks for your input

Yes they are pretty special people. They have an electric smoker and the house has a built in brick pit. We usually give Mini eggs, but I think a barrel smoker would be more versatile.

I've been cooking on one for 2 years. Very simple to cook on. Turns out the best ribs, chicken and brisket I have ever ate. Pork loin too. Be sure to order the plate that goes under the charcoal basket and tell them to watch the videos at https://www.pitbarrelcooker.com/ . You nearly can't screw it up. If you leave the lid off for 30 minutes because you forgot to go back and put it on. It will catch ribs and brisket on fire. I never did that again.Image Image Image

When you wrap ribs or whatever you are cooking on the PBC do you put them on the grate at that point or do you leave them hanging and wrap around the hanging rod or what?

I either wrap them and put them on the grate or in the oven. Usually the oven. 3 hours hanging, 2 hours wrapped in the oven and 1 hour unwrapped in the oven. The would not win a competition because there is no "tug". I like them like that so that is how I cook them. You have to have a sharp knife or they will tear up when you slice them. :salut: :texas:
