Re: WeedBurners
I know Home Depot and Harbour Freight both have them, however I did not like their designs. too many safety features that made them difficult to operate.
We have a feed store here in town that sells one that simply has an on / off valve and that's it. I think I paid around $25 for it.
Good Luck

tman, I've also seen them at Tractor Supply Company and Northern Tool. I can't remember the exact price but I remember thinking that they were about the same as the other places.

There is a Harbor freight not far from where "Wanda" is having some work done on her. Maybe I'll stop by there when I pick her up.

Re: WeedBurners
One word of advice.....and I am not 100% sure how true this is but here goes
I was having trouble with mine at the last cook-off, the same problem I routinely have with mine. It works fine the first couple of times on a fresh bottle and then all of a sudden it's like I am out of propane when I KNOW I am not.
So the guy next to me see's my predicament and wanders over to offer advice, he says the problem I am having is because I have the type of hose that screws into the propane bottle instead of over the top. Seems for some reason these new "Al Gore" valves ( what he called them ) don't like the kind that go inside, and the only real solution is to really really crank it in. So I grab my wrench and I dang near stand on the thing and sure enough it works better, not full blast like I like but still better than nothing.
So I guess my next step is to put a new hose on it with a different connector.
Just thought I would throw that out there for due consideration
Good Luck

Re: WeedBurners
Been using a cheapo one from Harbor Freight for several years now with no problems.
The part about the valve and the type of screw fitting isn't what causes that problem. It is caused by a safety inside the OPD valve. Usually this happens when the valve is opened too quickly. You should open the valve slowly about 1/4 turn, then open it the rest of the way so as not to engage the safety. It can also happen if the valve on the tank is left open for a long period without any gas going through it. If it happens, just shut the valve on the tank, then open the valve on the weedburner to let off the pressure in the hose. Close the valve on the weedburner, then open the valve on the tank slowly and then re-light the weedburner.

Re: WeedBurners
Thanks Jim, I think I will give that a shot before I buy a new hose.
Never really thought about how fast I was opening the valve, I guess I have just been cranking it open. I figured somebody on here could help
Tritonman...sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread, that was unintentional

My weedburner has the same screw-in type threads as yours does. Also sometimes the OPD valves can stick or go bad. So, check the weedburner on another tank too.
