How do you calibrate thermometers with no adjustment screw on the back?

Some you can't, but some you can hold the stem and turn the dial. CF :D

I use a can of Whomp Biscuits placed evenly across the cooking surface. The ones that rise fastest or on the hottest part. adj the plates until you get and even rise. then go for even browning to fine tune. and smoked Whomp Biscuits are pretty good eats with a sliced up Fattie.

Since water boils at a 100 degrees Celcius at sea level, bring some to a boil and put the thermometer in it. Put a mark where the needle is. This will give you a reference for 212 degrees Fahrenheit, which should be accurate enough for your needs.
