Fire Starters????

Postby 02Red » Mon Jun 17, 2013 8:48 pm

I am new to the site and I am excited about joining the forum. I currently have a 250 gal tank pit on a small trailer. I am interested in maybe adding a propane fire starter but want some advice. I thought about getting a propane torch as well not sure. Just thinking. Any information would be helpful. Thanks,

I can't wait to post some pics of the grill.

Welcome 02Red,
I'm way more on the student side of this forum and learning a lot from the helpful folks here. You should post an introduction on the new member forum and put some pics of your pit up too.

As far as the fire starter goes I can tell you what I do to start my small horizontal offset is pretty simple. After a nice bed of lump charcoal is getting hot I lay my smoking wood on top and also help it get started with a MAPP gas torch. I'm considering making a lighting torch now that I have NG plumbed outside.

Welcome!

I use a propane weed burner bought from Northern tool. This one is very close to mine.

I thought I had a picture of it in use but I had already removed it. I just put the tip halfway in the middle intake hole.

I usually use a bunch of paper towels and try to form a small bowl and fill it with cooking oil in between two small logs and light it.Works great all the time and it has no smell
