New Toy... GrillGrates

Postby BRam03 » Mon Sep 09, 2013 12:55 pm

Does anyone have experience using these, just ordered some for my charcoal grill, and wanted to see what the experts thought… I have been very hard pressed to find a bad review out there, but I find it hard to believe anything can be that good…

I've got a 2 burner Char-Broil RED Infrared grill
the GrillGrates come 5.1/4" wide
I bought three sections a little longer than my grill is deep
and trimmed them with a hacksaw
they replace my original grill grates
I LOVE THEM Image
NO flair-up from underneath to burn the food !!
and the best grill marks you have ever seen

I also have a 22"OldSmokey
I raise the firepan to 4½" (from the normal 8") from the grill grate
and put my charcoal in some Weber charcoal baskets
and put two of my GrillGrates over the baskets
and I get some SERIOUS heat ;)

I like em a lot. . Don't burn food from flair ups and don't have to baby sit meat... they are actually warming up on my weber kettle as I type

My review so far (pictures to come soon)

While not life changing, this product is great on my Weber Kettle, prevents flair ups, and produces a great sear. The grillgrate tool it comes with makes turning food very easy, and helps prevent sticking.

Long story short they perform as advertised, are worth the cost, and overall would highly recommend.

With that much praise for them, I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend. Aside from smoking something delicious I mean.

I have been eyeing those things for the past year now. I have a 4 burner charbroil commercial "Infrared" and would love to replace the old grates. I am just trying to figure out if I can get them to fit completely so I can just get rid of the old grates.

they worked great, next time I need to let them preheat a little more, twas afraid of getting them too hot in the little weber

they sure allow for alot of flavoring
