Maverick Meat Probe

Postby mramsey » Sun Feb 02, 2014 3:46 pm

My wife purchased a Maverick Redi Check meat probe for me for Christmas. After using it 2 times, the meat probe no longer reads correctly, very high. A friend of mine told me the line can not be kinked, which we tried to make sure that did not happen. My question is, "can anyone recommend a better brand, with fewer issues?" I love the concept, but can not deal with a malfunctioned probe.

Thank you for your input!

My Redi-Chek works great, have been using it over five years, and in really hot circumstances – the old Lynx had a 1400° infrared burner. But, and it's a big but, I made sure that I bought the one with the braided stainless steel cable, not the little silicone coated wire thing. Mine still reads true every time, even though it's beat up in the wire has a few kinks.

I think it varies with the leads you happen to get. I've got 2 ...one I've never had a problem with the other moisture got to somehow and it had to be replaced. Even the one I replaced it with tends to act up sometimes for whatever reason. Just depends on the mood it's in as to if I get the dreaded "LLL" signal.
