what thermometer/probes do u use?

Postby sinfony78 » Sun Jun 14, 2015 10:39 pm

looking at the maverick, but not sure whether to get the wireless or bluetooth/android one...any preferences for you guys? other than the interface, i think the only difference is 2 vs 4 probes

Check the distance capabilities. Bluetooth is typically only 33'.
I use the Maverick that goes 300' and sometimes I wish it went a little farther.

which one do you use? i'm trying to figure out which interface is better, actually
i've read the bluetooth one works well within 150', but right now i'm never more than 35 feet away in my living room

i'd rather be stuck in my living room using a clear, simple interface than having it work far away...i think extra probes would be nice too, but maybe 4 is overkill?

The maverick works great. Mine will still read even if I'm in the house.

I have the 732 ( x2 just backup) and feel that it is just a good tool typically only use one probe.
My office is on second floor front, pit is on the deck in back certainly within 300' but with the walls and such It loses contact sometimes.
My only gripe is having to pull the battery cover off to turn it on.

maverick 732... but since being on this forum and a lot of the good cooks on here have me us thermometers less than before...
I would really like the thermopen, just don't want to part with the money :rose: but the wife uses the taylor a lot also for in the house cooking

I use the "old style" Thermapen for grills and smokers and a thermopop for other cooking temp reads. Both are excellent and very accurate.

I use my hands! If I were to use any contraptions, I would have to go with Maverick.

Been through a few Mavericks, very good products imo, now carry two chef alarms and a thermapen but don't even use the cf's anymore just the pen.
