The Meater looks promising

Postby Markw142 » Tue Oct 20, 2015 8:25 am

I've used mavericks and Tappecue, and the problem is always the same...the probe wires always fail....this looks very interesting.

Might be just the ticket for some folks. I'll stick with my Maverick until I see some man on the street reviews.

On Tappecue what do you think has been your cause of probe wire failure? Is it because they are being pinched in the lid when closing? Just curious because I've been thinking about purchasing one.

Thanks.

on the tappecue, the wires themselves are vulnerable...either at the connection to the probe, or in one case, the combination of slippery gloves and a heavy door lid slamming down on a wire cause failure. Also had a failure caused by gunk getting on the probe connector into the main unit which caused false readings.

One of the interesting things about this product...each probe is not only a meat thermometer, but the exposed end is also an ambient temperature probe too. So you get grate temp, and meat temp off one probe...
