Tired of the digital thermometers I've been using. At some point I want a Tappecue but for now I've got my eye on a decent maverick. I don't want to invest in a new probe unit only to crush the wires in my doors.
Any ideas on what I can use as a pass through?

Re: Need a probe pass through idea
Drill a hole into the cook chamber above your main cooking grate and install a small diameter metal feed-through with smooth edges to pass the probe through. You can also use a high heat rubber grommet. Take a look at the Maverick meat probe. It is L shaped, so you'll need to back feed the plug end through the hole, so size the hole based on the plug width. The temp probe is not a problem.

I got the idea from one of the add one offered by Shirley Fab. Just not sure what they are using.

I use high heat rubber grommets on my UDS. I got them from McMaster-Carr. Go to their website and search for push in rubber grommets. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll find 'em. I don't have these on my offset cause my wall thickness is too thick for these grommets. But the wires on my IGRILL 2 have held up to my 90 lb doors just fine.

Re: Need a probe pass through idea
Paul got the idea from my comp build " Bahama Mama". On her I used 3000 PSI 3/8" couplings. He uses 1/2" 3000 PSI couplings.
I also use them now but I make a tee fitting to close the hole up around the wires.
