Weber Kettle Smoke and Sear

Postby Speed » Wed Mar 02, 2016 7:30 pm

Does anyone have experience with this? My wife bought me a new Kettle for my birthday and I'm interested in this but would like to hear about it before I drop the cash for one. It's supposed to hold a quart of water in the gap. I appreciate any input.

Looks like the same principle as the Smokenator.

kind of but this also allows you to have a lot of coals all lit for an intense sear as well. I'm more than likely going to buy one....or build a replica to test and see how it will work. They retail for 79.95.

Interesting. Like most weber add on it has a hefty price too.

When we go camping at Thanksgiving I smoke turkey on my kettle. No water pan but I use a charcoal basket on one side with some heavy duty foil dividing the fire side from the cook side. If you need liquid it can be panned beneath the meat.

That being said, I do dig the cool gadgets they build for the kettle.
