75 Gallon Offset For Sale, Patio Type

Postby hogaboomer » Fri Apr 02, 2021 11:26 am

This fine specimen was built by me in August 2020, and used for my personal cooker a few times, maybe 5 times or so.
24 inch diameter used propane tank with 3/16" tuning plates.. Located at my house in Groves, Texas.
$1,400. Edited to show the new Tel Tru door thermometer:

Sorry I did not reply to your "I don't know where to put them", post. Haven't been online. Those pits look fantastic. I'm pretty sure you will get some bites on here. Good luck, sir!

Thank you. I'm not holding my breath, though. Seems like everybody is pretty broke right now.

So, Mr. Railsback was kind enough to reach out and suggest I put thermometers in. Which is something I have considered, but didn't put them in, because I had trouble trying to cook with them in the first pit I built, leading me to switch over to digital probes.
But, I guess if I want these to sell I need to get a little bling action going, so I just ordered up a couple of Tel Tru door thermometers.
Where do you all think I should place them, in the center of the door?

I’m more a probe guy as well. However if you’re using one I’d think middle door just above the lower grate.

The main reason for reaching out was that when trying to sell something its best if it has an appeal to everyone. They are first class little offset smokers, really really well built. But in my case, if I was to run over to Groves and purchase either one of those pits, I would have to take it home and modify it just to be able to cook on it. It has the holes already for using probes, but I have been cooking for at least 35 years, and have never used a probe, and most likely never will. But if the pit has at least a gauge or 2 on it, I could take it home and build a fire and throw something on in the amount of time it took to get a fire going. With the probe hole, and a gauge, it will have all the bases covered as far as temps go.

As far as gauge location I suspect that center would be fine. If you look at the photo's I posted yesterday on my trailer pit, the 3 gauges stacked on top of each other in the center, and the one in the upright smoke box came standard from the builder. The one on the lower right and lower left I had added.

These pits will sell, they are just to nice and to well built not to.

Put it at the grate level that will be used the most. IMO. Somebody will be getting a awesome pit!
