Looking for trailer pit mfg. in Mt. Pleasant, TX

Postby 40 ACRZ » Tue Jul 27, 2010 10:07 pm

Just found this site... just registered... first post.... GREAT board by the way...

I'm actually in Austin and just today found a trailer pit for sale (new) at the Magnum Trailers on R.M. 620 just west of Hwy. 183. Salesman told me it's made by some guy in Mt. Pleasant. Construction was AWESOME and was complete with fold-out tables, full propane plumbing, upright smoker, 2 burners, wood box, slide-out grates, etc. Basically, at least by my standards -- the "works" -- all for $5995. The ONLY problem was the size was just a bit too big for me. The whole rig was just short of 17' and as I'm hoping to store it in my garage, I'm really needing something just a bit smaller.

I didn't ask a bunch of questions of the salesman but he mentioned the guy was in Mt. Pleasant. I'm hoping to get in direct touch with the guy and see what interest he might have in building me a slightly smaller one. Does anyone know who the manufacturer might be?

Thanks in advance.

I saw the same pit at Big Tex trailers, he does make a single axle trailer, almost bought it but the salesman wouldn't tell me who made it.
I also wanted some things added to yhe pit, so I passed on the deal.

The single axle was with tax, plates was around 3,650.00
Want to add double racks on main chamber and a fire starter, no biggie really.
Just mainly wanted to know who manufactured it, salesman wouldn't tell me, had to walk away from it,
It really is a great pit.

My bad, just looked at the Magnum warehouse , it is a different pit but they are similar looking.
Still a good deal though.

Not sure what one(s) you're seeing at the Magnum warehouse.... I know they stock Lyfetime and whatever brand this one I'm referring to is... Where is their "warehouse"?

I spoke with the guy at Magnum again earlier today and was told that the "nicer" one is also offered in a dual axle "shorter" model (12' I think) at around $4900 AND he's looking into the availability of a single-axle model.

Regarding some of the other posts on this thread... Yes, I've looked at Klose and Gator (as well as JJ now) and found that this one is a LOT less expensive. I'd DEFINITELY love to have a Klose pit but think for the features I want, I might be prohibited from a cost standpoint.

SURELY someone can help us identify the manufacturer on this one... of course, that's ASSUMING it's really made in Mt. Pleasant like the salesman told me...

Thanks to all for your comments.

Don't know if these are the same pits you were looking at but these are the same ones at Big Tex
double axle pit - http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/for/1858444748.html
Price at Big Tex was about 5600 on this one.
Single axle pit - http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/spo/1855863752.html
Sorry about the mixup.

Well, heck!!! I'd looked at Austin, San Antonio and Houston and not found them on Craigslist... those appear to be the identical ones. The price on that long one is about $1k higher than Magnum has it though...

Thanks.
