Chocolate Cake, Steam vs Infrared Experiment

Postby woodenvisions » Tue Apr 18, 2017 8:32 pm

Been wanting to do this test for months, and tonight the Chocolate God's were sending me signals, so here it goes.

In the Can Cooker is 4 cups of water and 2 mini tins of chocolate cake.
30 minutes on medium low and the results left me speechless !!
Perfectly done, it's the most moist cake I've ever seen, almost like it was a poached egg version of cake...
The Big Easy has Chocolate cake with chocolate/peanut butter mixed in.
Both will get a Cream Cheese icing when they cool off, pics to follow. :P  :P

Kitchen smells really good, Big Easy chocolate cakes should be done any minute.

Taste test in a bit, hopefully I can get my belt on in the a.m lol...ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Well, Deb and I both tried both versions, the Can Cooker by far was more moist, but the Big Easy was extremely moist as well, but produced the perfect crust that a baked cake has.The peanut butter and chocolate hit me as soon as I opened the slider :P :P

Either one is far better than an oven, I may be getting the MONGO sized Can Cooker soon...

Wow...

Normally we use the oven for cakes. But once I made a peanut butter/chocolate cake in a little slow cooker, and it was goood but more pudding-esque.

WV, you do realize you are selling me appliance after appliance.... :laughing7:

Haa,

You can sure do alot with this contraption, I will never use the oven again for small loaves.
Next is pork dumplings, and perogies, then on the hot cast for texture with fried onions..

Looks good. I gotta give the can another chance. It's been in the shed since my one so-so attempt.

May I suggest putting a pork shoulder in it, season it well along with potatoes, carrots, onions ?
Also, use chicken broth for the liquid.
I think it will redeem itself

Every time I suggest cooking something in it my wife tells me to stick to smoke and fire…she's probably right.

I might do some shrimp in it…she won't eat those.

This is a good Chanel on YouTube.
Will give you plenty of ideas on what to cook.
I'm all about fire and smoke, but that can you have will open your eyes to alot of new things if you let it.

Love the "skippy" product being used.
