Unless you catch it....
Y'all won't find white meat King Salmon in any grocery store or restaurants.
I was lucky enough to catch a 30 lber in Sept. White Kings are my favorite. Lots of oil in the meat and don't over cook as fast as red meated ones.
Lots of folks won't even try it cause of the color of the meat, hence why you can't find it on the grocers shelves.
Deep fryed up some Sunday along with some of Russ's twice fried Russet.
Definately comfort food on a wet windy day out here.

Man, that looks fantastic. Count me as another that's not familiar with a white king salmon!

Nice Plate, Wild Bill, are the whites native to any particular waters that are different than the red salmon ?

Thanks y'all for looking
White King Salmon aren't all that rare out here on the west coast. Certain rivers through out Washington, British Columbia and Alaska have runs of White fleshed King Salmon. It's a genetic thing from what I understand.
Here's a photo of the White King I caught in Sept.
Sorry it's sideways, my wife took this photo with her IPhone vertical. As you can see it looks like any other king Salmon.
We also get what we call a Marbled King Salmon. A mixture of white meat with stripes of red meat running through it. You won't find Marbleds on your grocers shelves either.

Re: Unless you catch it....
I've always wanted to catch a salmon, there are a lot of rivers within an hour from me to catch them, I tried for 3 years in a row but not even a bite. After an operation on my chest I can't cast a line anymore so I guess I'll never catch one unless I go farmed fish, lol.
I do bottle some that get given though. I love salmon. But only certain ways.that fish looks really good bill.
