Iowa Brats w/ a Texas twist

Postby bsooner75 » Sat Jan 20, 2018 8:35 pm

When temps get close to 70 in January you take the opportunity to fire up the Weber and grill.

Pulled some Brats (In-laws keep us stocked from their Iowa trips) from the freezer. Boiled in some Shiner, grilled with peppers , onions, jalapeños. Served on warm tortillas with spicy brown mustard (fresh outta Sooner sauce but it would’ve been good). Good dinner either way.

Hey SoonerMan, reckon I should check with Russ before approving this change :?: :laughing7:
He assured me that he had a great S.O.H. - - if not, I'm dead :whiteflag:

Nah, he's totally safe cuz he used Beer, not that stuff that Bobby Bouchee calls HQH2O....mo mo mo mo..momma says sooner is all ok here, lol..

Thx for setting me straight on the movie Sooner, lol..

Brats are pretty popular up here in some parts of Oneplateville, these look great sooner !
I'd take a bag of fresh Kraut we recently got with Brown Spicy turd of muss and Chow down on those :)

LOL - OUP pretty sure Russ will find the humor.

WV - you got your Adam Sandler characters confused. It’s Bobby Bouchée. Love that movie. I too love kraut on Brats but it was Pepper / onions turn.

Not sure who the Anonymous post is but Bratjitas is awesome!

Thanks y’all.

One problem, you drink the Shiner boil the brats in a lesser brew...

Shiner Bock is the only Shiner Beer I won’t drink. Never have cared for it. I buy the family pack and save the Bock for guests and cooking.

Actually had some Rahr and Sons Oktoberfest hiding in the back of the fridge that paired nicely.

Sooner, next time you want to try something unique, grab a can of Steel Reserve 211 and mix it with ur kraut while ur getting it hot. Boil the brats in that stuff as well, it's a pretty strong dark beer.
