Brisket Ideas

Postby rms827 » Mon Apr 16, 2018 8:38 am

OK, so I cooked my first brisket after getting all excited about all the other great ones I've seen here. NOW, I have to figure out what to do with massive amounts of leftovers, LOL.

So a few questions here.

First, what's the best way to store it so it stay fresh a while in the fridge?

Are there better ways than food saver vacuum bags to store what I want to freeze in a day or two?

Lastly, I need some leftovers recipe ideas. I know you can use brisket in a ton of different ways. Here's what's come to mind already:

Sandwiches (duh, lol)
Brisket Tacos
Brisket Chili
Brisket Hash

I could probably think of a few more, but it's early yet. Brain ain't fully workin'

I typically portion it out into personal meals and family sized, then vacuum seal it. When reheating, a sink full of super hot water gets it going well.

The parts that invariably end up as chopped or shredded are great with some eggs, cheese and a bit of salsa in a tortilla.

But I'm not very inventive.

I have a pretty big family so it’s rare for me to have left over brisket, but one thing I’ve done in the past is brisket stuffed jalapeños. Just give it a little sauce, stuff it into a jalapeño, wrap in bacon and throw them in the oven. People seem to love it.

Brisket omelette with a touch of bbq sauce, cheese and green onions.

Brisket hash browns like the waffle House would make. Brisket, cheese, jalapenos, green onions.

Altho I did not make it, I had some Brisket Chili that my Son fixed that was awesome but, of course, it had a lot more than just brisket in it. :laughing7: :salut:

The favorite around my house is stroganoff. Diced up like burnt ends, mixed with mushrooms, sour cream, onion, brown gravy and served over egg noodles. I think the kids like it as much as the bbq brisket. I also like to make burritos with it.
