Well, I can try a combination of tips given here [thanks guys]. So what's the deal with using Crisco oil, why not any other oil?
Also on Saturday the edges around the grill got cooking stuff on it, what's best spray to clean that area with please?

Nothing nice to say about gas grills after the issues with my retired Char Broil one, LOL. I'll leave most of the advice to the guys that have had better results.
One suggestion I posted elsewhere on the site though; grape seed oil also can work well to baste on the grill racks. Higher smoke point than olive oil and a very low flavor profile. As long as you don't get the grill crazy hot, it's worth a try.

Actually I meant the solid Crisco white grease. Didn't even remember that they make oil, too. White Crisco works like magic in seasoning cast iron. ...which we do in the gas rig.
