USA trip

Postby Norway Joe » Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:21 am

We started our holiday today and look forward to touring your country. A lot of new places for us to visit, which we believe will be exciting. Some of you have asked me to post pictures from the tour which I happily do.

Left home at 5.15 am and now waiting at the gate. Plane leaving at 07.55 for the first stretch to London and then on to Chicago. 2 hours flight to London, 1.5 hour there and 9 hours flight to Chicago. Arriving in Chicago at 1.30 PM local time. Will be a long day.Image

Thanks. We were delayed from Oslo so very short time at Heathrow. An airport representative rushed us through the airport with security check and passport check. We are on the plane to Chicago now, departing every moment. Gate closed behind us.

Are you back in the us? If not have a safe trip too.

No high-jack intended, my Friend - - - HOWEVER, the Cyber Family must know that Y'all are headed West because this was on my Desktop this morning. Y'all should be seeing some of these Beauties when you get to the Tetons. Have a Safe and Enjoyable Trip.

+1.

Joe what do you plan to see in Chicago? By the way, you can get a pretty good old fashioned cheeseburger at the original Billy Goat (430 N Michigan) which is famous and a real slice of history. When I used to go in there 20 years ago it was still a real dive, I hear it’s cleaned up some now. And the Italian food at Rosebud on Rush is some of the best in the city, love that place.

The aquarium is a great visit and a architectural treat inside. And the Water Tower is kind of a must do photo op, great story behind that. Wrigley Field is fantastic and a real piece of Americana, truly the last of the old school ballparks. Cubby Bear’s across the street (Addison) is pretty good food and a short walk. For great night of blues and barbecue ribs, Kingston Mines is on the way back into the city not far from Wrigley, and not far from the Apollo Theater (never been) that’s supposed to be great for live music too.

Just a few ideas, hope you love yer trip.

And to pile on the back of Parts, If you are driving west from Chicago, Mount Rushmore and the Little Bighorn battlefield are supposed to be worth the trip and places I’ve always wanted to go but haven’t (yet!).

Bienvenidos a America, Amigos!

You shouldn’t have any worries in Chicago Joe. There were only 51 people shot there over the weekend.

I’ll pile on to recommendations by Boots which were excellent

Another thing in Chicago is an architectural tour. It’s by boat and narrated by a docent.

If you make it to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Devil’s Tower are nearby. A ride through sturgis (stop for a T-shirt :D ) and Deadwood is nice.

Yes, and the Viking will be there during the week so he should be fine.
